Hope

How do I open up this heart of mine?

How do I make it understand it’s safe?

There is no other life for me to live;

I have to make the most of this.

It’s been a while since I laughed out loud.

I miss that joyous feeling.

I ache for doing what I want

Not always what I have to.

I miss exploring some new hills

And rest for a while in their tall grass,

Let the sun enjoy my face

And savor the playful winds.

I miss the freedom of it all.

To forge a path, not walk what’s given;

To live a life that’s fully mine,

To do the dance through hills and valleys,

To write a legacy on hearts.

To build a life that will bring life.

To make some dead hearts sing again,

To make some barren minds dream again,

To make some dry souls thrive again,

To make some caged spirits free again.

To witness the miracle of a human becoming fully alive.

As he once was.

Or never was.

It can be done.

I know the Life Himself.

***

The tiredness will go away

Just add some sunlight and some joy,

A few good friends and some good food,

And worship The God Who Gives it all.

The heart will soften once again

But it can never be pried open

It needs some rest and a little fun,

And it will be wild again in no time.

Just trust in Him with your whole life.
